Dear Family and Friends,
On March 15, I am volunteering at an all-day fundraiser called Marathon of Sport. All funds raised at the event are donated to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. This is an event I have been personally working to put on with my team for the last year. The event pairs teams of students with local Special Olympics athletes to compete in a variety of sports such as soccer, bench ball, ultimate, floor hockey, and more!

Marathon of Sport is organized by motionball. motionball is a not-for-profit whose mandate is to introduce the next generation of donors, volunteers and sponsors to the Special Olympics movement through integrated social and sporting events. motionball now proudly hosts 33 annual events in 19 cities across the country. Through these events and since inception in 2002, motionball has donated over $10 million to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.

At motionball’s request, 70% of the funds raised at Marathon of Sport are sent to the local Provincial Chapter. 25% stays with the Special Olympics Canada Foundation to ensure the long-term stability of the movement, and the other 5% is directed to the #NOGOODWAY Campaign which aims to end the use of the R-word (retard) in everyday conversation.

This is an event that is very close to all of us and we have been working all year to put on the best event possible for all of our participants, athletes and volunteers! Last year we were able to raise over $6000 for Special Olympics and our goal this year is to raise over $8,000! Any donation is greatly appreciated no matter how big or small.
