Hi my name is Elizabeth! On September 28, I am participating in an all-day fundraiser for Special Olympics Canada called the motionball Marathon of Sport. Special Olympics is a global inclusion movement that empowers people with intellectual disabilities through sport, health, and recreation.

This event means a lot to me as I have been working and actively volunteering within the disability community for the past few years. I have seen first hand the impact inclusivity sport and recreation, as well as organizations like this, have on individuals. Empowering them like this makes them feel valued, important and talent as they should and allow to been seen for these amazing abilities instead of their disability. Everyone is so much more than their disability and deserve to be seen as such. I have worked with serval special Olympics athletes and they all are so proud to be apart of Special Olympics and the memories of the experiences they have are priceless to hear about. Special Olympics helps athletes to build confidence, social skills, and friendships which truly have a life long impact on them in addition to growing in their own personal fitness goals.

I do respite work with an amazing 8-year-old who has Autism, he is very athletic and loves running, biking, and swimming. His family is so happy that organizations like special Olympics exist to empower him and give him the well-deserved opportunity to shine in his athletic endeavors. Due to the amazing stories, they have heard about Special Olympics his family is able to dream of his future where he is an accomplished athlete and champion. By giving to special Olympics and donating to my fundraising efforts, you will first hand be helping future athletes like him be able to reach their full potential and letting families realize their dreams for their children.

My friend Eric plays for the Special Olympics hockey team and is very proud to be a part of the team. Eric is an amazing person and inspires me to be a better person with his constant positivity, outstanding kindness, and compassion, and outgoing personality. Eric has helped me to be a more confident person and made my summer job, in particular, the camp songs part of it, one of the best experiences of my life. He is very talented at all sports, hockey, and soccer in particular and is a great team player who is always encouraging to all. Through his talent and hard work, he earned a bronze medal in the tournament this past winter. I am very proud of Eric and proud to be one of his friends.

Please consider donating to help people like Eric and thousands of others continue to benefit from this amazing organization and to help me reach my donation goal. All funds raised at the event are donated directly to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.
