motionball is a national not-for-profit organization whose mandate is to introduce the next generation of donors, volunteers and sponsors to the Special Olympics movement through integrated social and sporting events. motionball now proudly hosts 32 annual events in 1 cities across the country. Through these events and as a result of many individuals, volunteers and organizations that have supported the movement, motionball has donated over $9,000,000 net since its inception in 2002 including $1.5M in 2017 alone.

On Saturday, June 23rd, Cape Breton saw it's first ever motionball Marathon of Sport. This event saw 24 local Special Olympics athletes competing alongside community supporters in basketball, soccer, beach volleyball, ultimate frisbee, ball hockey and bocce ball. Together, we raised $27,000 and donations are still coming in.

We can't thank everyone who contributed to the events success including our presenting sponsor Protocase, community donors/supporters Pita Pit Sydney River, CBU and DJ Majestic, Breton Wealth Management, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, and 6 local golf resorts including Cabot Links, Le Portage Golf Club, The Lakes Golf Club, Seaview Golf and Country Club, Lingan Golf Club and Bell Bay Golf Club. We also had signage donated from City Print as well as contributions from many other supporters.

Thank you for your donation and continuing to support local Special Olympics chapters right here in Cape Breton!
