On March 11, I am participating in a day long fundraiser called Marathon of Sport. All funds raised at the event are donated to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. Throughout the day, I will be competing alongside Special Olympics Athletes in a variety of sports such as basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, volleyball and football.
Marathon of Sport is organized by motionball. motionball's mandate is to introduce the next generation of donors, volunteers and sponsors to the Special Olympics movement through integrated social and sporting events. Since inception in 2002, motionball has donated over $7,500,000 to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.
It's an amazing event and I look forward to it every year. This will be my 4th year participating and I am so honoured to have the opportunity to be participating again. Four years ago this event sparked a passion in me to work with individuals on the disability spectrum, since then I have become part of a committee that promotes inclusion and have signed up to volunteer with individuals on the spectrum. I see my buddy on a weekly basis, and she continues to be the highlight of my weeks, amazing me with her incredible personality and love.
